Rajyastariya Krushak Divas Celebrated at ICAR–CRRI on the Auspicious Occasion of Akshaya Tritiya with Muthi Anukula Ceremony![]()
On the sacred and auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the Rajyastariya Krushak Divas was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour at ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, on 20th April 2025. The celebration marked the ceremonial commencement of the agricultural season through the revered Muthi Anukula ritual, symbolizing prosperity, abundance, and new beginnings in agriculture.
The programme was graciously presided over by the Chief Guest, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, whose esteemed presence added grandeur and dignity to the occasion. He was accompanied by Shri Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha; Shri Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia, Hon’ble Minister Forest, Environment & Climate Change Dept.; Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament, Cuttack; Shri Bibhu Prasad Tarai, Member of Parliament, Jagatsinghpur; along with the local MLAs of Cuttack district, who graced the programme as Guests of Honour.
Dr. G. A. K. Kumar, Director of ICAR–CRRI, along with distinguished dignitaries from the State Department, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and participants. In keeping with the cherished agricultural traditions of Odisha, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, along with all dignitaries, performed the traditional Muthi Anukula ceremony by sowing sacred rice seeds at the Institute farm, symbolizing the hopeful onset of the agricultural year and invoking prosperity for farmers across the state.
Subsequently, the Hon’ble Chief Minister addressed the august gathering at the Rajyastariya Krushak Divas, inspiring and encouraging the farming community with his visionary remarks. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 5,000 farmers and farm women from various districts of Odisha, reflecting the vibrant spirit and collective aspirations of the agricultural fraternity.
The programme was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment in collaboration with the District Administration Office Cuttack. The celebration stood as a harmonious confluence of cultural heritage and scientific endeavour, reaffirming the Institute’s steadfast commitment to agricultural innovation, farmers’ welfare, and sustainable progress. The event also fostered a deep sense of unity and pride within the farming community, strengthening the enduring bond between tradition and modern agricultural science.
