Two programs were organized named “ Demonstration of CRRI Biofertilizers & Kisan Ghosti of Progressive farmers and Farmer Producer Companies on CRRI biofertilizers at Bargarh block

These programs were organised under the innovative project “Production, Popularisation & supply of quality bioinoculants in rice based cropping & farming system of Odisha (Jaiva Poshak) funded by state Govt. of Odisha. This program also formed the integral component of”Mera Gaon Mera Gourav” program of ICAR & DAFE, New Delhi with the theme on balanced use of fertilizers & Khet Bachhao Abhiyan.This program was organised in association with Rajiv Lochan FPCL. This program was coordinated by Dr. Ram Lakhan Verma, Senior Scientist. He has emphasized on the balanced use of fertilizers & role of CRRI varieties suitable for varied ecosystems. Dr. Awadesh Kumar, Scientist explained on the defects of excessive usage of chemical fertilizers & how they effect grain quality in rice. Dr. Sobha Rani, Scientist explained about the importance of quality seeds for improved production.Smt. Susrita Sahoo Scientist, KVK Bargarh has emphasized on the agricultural practices at Bargarh block and has explained about need & importance of Biofertilizers and recommended Azolla as good Biofertilizer. This program was moderated by Sri Siba Prasad Sahoo & Hrushikesh Padhan of Ahinsa club. Around 47 farmers including 40 male & 7 female were benefited from this program. Dr.Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate of Jaiva Poshak project demonstrated the application methods of biofertilizers.There was interaction between farmers & scientists on the effective application of CRRI Biofertilizers in rice & vegetable crops and the program was facilitated by project staff. Improving soil health & preserving soil microbial diversity by applications of Biofertilizers & balanced use of fertilizers is theme of this program.
