Training on Improving soil health through balanced use of fertilizers & Khet Bachao Abhiyan under MGMG at Kantapada Block, Odisha on 08.06.2026 (Team 1)

ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack organized a training programme under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) on 08 June 2026 at Brahmansailo village, Kantapada block, Cuttack Dist. This program formed the integral component of “Mera Gaon Mera Gourav” program of ICAR & DAFE, New Delhi with the theme on balanced use of fertilizers & Khet Bachao Abhiyan under the innovative project “Production, Popularisation & supply of quality bioinoculants in rice-based cropping & farming system of Odisha (Jaiva Poshak) funded by state Govt. of Odisha. This training program was organised in association with Prachi FPCL. Around 56 farmers including 21 female & 35 males were benefited from this program. Dr. Annie Poonam, Principal Scientist and programme coordinator deliberated on the need of soil testing with balanced use of fertilizers, benefits of using biofertilizers and improving revenue through integrated farming system. Dr.Loton Bose, Principal Scientist explained on the popular climate resilient CRRI rice varieties and applications of NRRI Endo N to replace chemical fertilizers by 25%. Dr. Srikant Lenka, Principal Scientist explained the prevalence of plant pathogens in changed climate scenario and necessity to judicially use the chemical fertilizers and necessity to switch over to Biofertilizers & recommended Azolla as a good Biofertilizer. Dr. Manas Bag, Principal Scientist, has emphasized on the applications of Trichoderma as biostimulat to supplement plant nutrition. This program was moderated by Sri Khirod Chandra Padhy, Advisor & Sri Sanjit Kumar Routray, President Prachi FPCL. Dr.Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate of Jaiva Poshak project demonstrated the application methods of biofertilizers. There was interaction between farmers – scientists on the effective application of CRRI Biofertilizers in rice & vegetable crops and the demonstration under the program was facilitated by project staff. Improving soil health & preserving soil microbial diversity by applications of Biofertilizers & balanced use of fertilizers is theme of this program.
