From Chemical Dependence to Green Growth: FPC Training on CRRI Biofertilizers under Khet Bachao Abhiyan

Training program to Farmer Producer Companies on CRRI biofertilizers was organised at Jaishpatna village, Pipili block, Puri Dist. on 09.06.26 under the innovative project “Production, Popularization & supply of quality bioinoculants in rice based cropping & farming system of Odisha (Jaiva Poshak) funded by state Govt. of Odisha. This program also formed the integral component of”Mera Gaon Mera Gourav” program of ICAR & DAFE, New Delhi with the theme on balanced use of fertilizers & Khet Bachhao Abhiyan. This program was organised in association with Pipili 4S4R FPCL, This program was coordinated by Dr. Annie Poonam, Principal Scientist. She has delivered on the integrated farming system (IFS) practices with balanced use of fertilizers, benefits of using biofertilizers and improving revenue through IFS. Dr.Loton Bose, Principal Scientist explained on the popular climate resilient CRRI rice varieties and applications of NRRI Endo N to replace chemical fertilizers by 25%. Dr. Srikant Lenka, Principal Scientist explained the prevalence of plant pathogens in changed climate scenario and necessity to judicially use the chemical fertilizers and necessity to switch over to Biofertilizers & recommended Azolla as a good Biofertilizer. Dr. Manas Bag, Principal Scientist, has emphasized on the applications of Trichoderma as biostimulat to supplement plant nutrition.Dr Anil Kumar, Scientist has explained about popular CRRI rice varieties & importance of Biofertilizers.This program was moderated by Dr Karthik Chandra Sahoo CEO, Sri Aswin Kumar Pandey & Sanjit Kumar Mohanty of Pipili 4S4R FPCL. Around 55 farmers including 21 female & 24 male were benefited from this program. Dr.Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate of Jaiva Poshak project demonstrated the application methods of biofertilizers.There was interaction between farmers & scientists on the effective application of CRRI Biofertilizers in rice & vegetable crops and the program was facilitated by project staff. Improving soil health & preserving soil microbial diversity by applications of Biofertilizers & balanced use of fertilizers is theme of this program.
