Championing the national mission of “Khet Bachhao Abhiyan,” a high-impact institutional training program on the applications of CRRI Biofertilizers was successfully organized for Farmer Producer Companies at Rajanpalli village under Jagannath Prasad block today, June 29, 2026. Held under the state-funded project “Production, Popularisation & Supply of Quality Bioinoculants in Rice-Based Cropping & Farming System of Odisha” (Jaiva Poshak) in close collaboration with the Ghumusara Farmers Producer Company Limited, the initiative aligned with ICAR and DAFE’s “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” framework. The targeted training achieved an encouraging response from the local agricultural community, drawing the participation of 38 progressive farmers, including 22 females and 16 males, all focused on reducing chemical dependency and restoring vital soil microbial ecosystems.
The technical layout brought together a distinguished panel of agricultural scientists, banking officials, and administrative heads to deliver localized solutions. The event commenced with a welcome address by Sri Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, CEO of Ghumusara FPC, followed by an introductory overview of the program’s objectives by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate. Dr. Sutanu Kumar Satpathy, Head of KVK Ganjam, detailed the urgent requirement for the balanced use of fertilizers to safeguard long-term soil health. Highlighting advanced bio-management, Dr. P. Panneerselvam, Principal Scientist, CRRI, spoke on the critical need to switch over from chemical inputs to biofertilizers and demonstrated the rapid decomposition of rice straw using the NRRI Tech Decomposer. Sri Sanjib Mishra, DDM, NABARD, enriched the session by detailing various NABARD schemes designed to finance and support organic farming to minimize synthetic chemical dependencies.
Representing the line departments, Smt. Itishree Priyadarshini, ADH, explained the diverse applications and benefits of biofertilizers in high-value horticulture crops, while Smt. Divya Chetna, BAO, Jagannath Prasad block, reviewed existing farming practices at the block level and validated the immediate necessity of adopting bio-inoculants. The training transitioned into a practical field exercise led by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, who conducted live demonstrations on the precise application methodologies of CRRI Biofertilizers for different cropping systems. The event hosted a vibrant farmer-scientist interaction where local cultivators cleared technical doubts and was efficiently facilitated on the ground by Sri Sarat Chandra Sahoo, Technical Officer, and Sri Subrat Dash, project staff. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the Ghumusara Farmers Producer Company Limited management, marking a crucial milestone in empowering Ganjam’s FPCs to build a resilient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective agricultural future.
