Agriphotovoltaics (Agri-PV) Awareness Programme ![]()
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Cuttack, organized an Awareness Workshop on Agriphotovoltaics (Agri-PV) in collaboration with the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) at the K. Ramaiah Conference Hall, ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute (ICAR-CRRI), on June 25, 2026. Around 45 farmers, farm women, and rural youth participated in the programme. The workshop aimed to create awareness about Agriphotovoltaics, an innovative approach that integrates crop cultivation with solar energy generation on the same land, enhancing land-use efficiency, farm income, and environmental sustainability. Dr. D. R. Sarangi, SMS (Soil Science), welcomed the participants and highlighted the potential of Agri-PV in addressing the challenges of sustainable agriculture and energy security. Mr. Santosh Kumar Panda, General Manager, ASCI, delivered a technical session on the concept, models, and benefits of Agriphotovoltaics, while Mr. Amrit Brah, General Manager, ASCI, served as co-trainer and shared successful case studies, government initiatives, and skill development opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The ASCI team also conducted group activities and participatory exercises to enhance farmers’ understanding of Agri-PV systems. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohanta, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Cuttack, emphasized the importance of integrating renewable energy technologies with agriculture to address future challenges related to food security, energy demand, and climate change. Dr. Rajan Kamboj, SMS (Plant Protection) and Mrs. B. Mounika, SMS (Agricultural Extension) encouraged participants to stay informed about emerging agricultural technologies and actively engage in capacity-building programmes for their effective adoption. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session during which participants shared their views and clarified their queries regarding the adoption of Agriphotovoltaic systems. Dr. Gayatri Sinha, Technical Officer, and Mr. Prasanta Pradhan, Technical Officer, coordinated the programme and ensured its smooth conduct.
