CRRI Leads Campaign on Biofertilizers and Khet Bachhao Abhiyan to Revitalize Soil Health in Bargarh District ![]()
Moving forward with the national mission of “Khet Bachhao Abhiyan,” a dynamic field demonstration program on CRRI Biofertilizers alongside a specialized Training to Farmer Producer Companies on CRRI Biofertilizers was successfully conducted at Sargipali and Jamutbahal villages of Gaislet block on June 17, 2026. Held under the state-funded project “Jaiva Poshak” (Production, Popularisation & Supply of Quality Bioinoculants), these sequential institutional initiatives were organized in collaboration with the Ahinsa Farmer Producer Company Limited, AFPCL, and aligned with ICAR and DAFE’s “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” framework. Program Coordinator Dr. Awadesh Kumar, Senior Scientist, detailed the critical damage caused by excessive chemical fertilizer usage on rice grain quality, while Dr. Sobha Rani, Scientist, educated attendees on securing improved yields through high-quality seeds.
The two targeted institute programs successfully empowered local growers on preserving soil microbial diversity through balanced fertilizer practices. While the primary field demonstration benefited 52 progressive farmers, including 28 males and 24 females, the specialized FPC training session equipped an additional 73 participants, including 53 male and 20 female farmers, with commercial bio-management skills. Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate, led the practical sessions by demonstrating the precise application methods of CRRI Biofertilizers for rice and vegetable systems. Moderated by Sri Santanu Singh, Director of AFPCL, and Lalajee Jhankar, and seamlessly facilitated by project staff, the twin events successfully armed the Gaislet farming community with scalable, eco-friendly strategies to lower chemical dependency.
