Improving Soil Health and Productivity through Conservation Agriculture Practices
A one-day training programme on “Improving Soil Health and Productivity through Conservation Agriculture Practices” was conducted on 23 June 2025 at Chanchapada village, Kishannagar block, Cuttack district. The event was organized by ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute (ICAR-CRRI), Cuttack under the CRP on Conservation Agriculture (CA) funded project titled Conservation Agriculture for Enhancing the Productivity of Rice-Based Cropping System in Eastern India.
A total of 100 participants, including local farmers, attended the programme. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sushmita Munda, Senior Scientist and Principal Investigator, Crop Production Division, ICAR-CRRI. Technical sessions were led by Dr. Sushmita Munda and Dr. Rubina Khanam, Course Directors, who provided insights on improving soil health and productivity through conservation agriculture practices.
As part of the practical support initiative, various agricultural tools such as sickles, crowbars, trowels, powrah, gumboots, and sprayers were distributed to all participating farmers. Demonstrations were also conducted on the correct usage and maintenance of the tools to enhance field-level application and efficiency.
The farmers appreciated the training and tool distribution, noting that the knowledge and resources provided would help improve crop productivity and reduce labor intensity. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all organizers, facilitators, and participating farmers.
