One-day awareness programme in Chandol, Kendrapara

An one-day awareness programme was organized at Chandol of Krndrapara district by ICAR –Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack on 14 May 2026. The programme was organized under EAP- 416 (‘Production, Popularization and Supply of Quality Bioinoculants for Rice-based Cropping and Farming System of Odisha’) and Mera Gaon Mera Gourav (MGMG) scheme of ICAR, New Delhi. The aim of the programme was to raise concern about the harmful effect of chemical pesticides and fertilizers and their replacement using Biofertilizer and Biopesticides. About 150 progressive farmers attended the program. The program was coordinated by Sri Atanu Ghosal of Chandol Village and Directed by Dr. Arup K Mukherjee, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CRRI. Dr. Manas Bag, Principal Scientist, and Dr. NN Jambhulkar, Senior Scientist of ICAR-CRRI were present in the workshop. At onset Mr. Ghosal welcomed all the delegates. Dr. Jambhulkar explained the main objectives of the programme and Dr. Bag explained about the adverse effects of chemical pesticides on human health and how to replace the chemical pesticides. Dr. Mukherjee explained the available technologies of CRRI like Endo-N, Endo-NPK, Trichoderma based bio stimulants, climate resilient rice varieties, solar light trap etc which can be utilized as replacement of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Farmers who have utilized Trichoderma based product has expressed their satisfaction for its excellent effect on different crops. They also raised concern about easy availability of ICAR-CRRI products. The program ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Ghosal.
