Awareness Programme on Nematode Management in Direct-Seeded Rice Held at Bhadrak

The ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Cuttack organized a “Field Day-cum-Awareness Programme” on nematodes in mechanized direct-seeded rice (DSR) and their management through biocontrol agents on 20 March 2026 at Arandua village under Basudevpur block of Bhadrak district, Odisha.
The programme was conducted under the project “Challenging the Plant Rhizospheric Enemies: An Innovative Solution to Manage Nematode Problems in Mechanized Direct-Seeded Rice-Based Cropping System in Odisha”, sponsored by the Government of Odisha under the state plan Innovative scheme.
Altogether, 200 farmers and farmwomen participated in the programme. Scientists demonstrated field symptoms of nematode infestation in rice and vegetables and highlighted eco-friendly management practices, including the use of biocontrol agents and integrated approaches.
Dr. Rupak Jena, Scientist, ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack, served as the Course Director and guided the technical sessions.
