ICAR–CRRI Celebrates National Education Day with Workshop on Research, Innovation, and Start-up Ecosystem

ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Cuttack, celebrated National Education Day with a one-day workshop titled “Bridging Research and Innovation: From Knowledge to Technology and Start-up Ecosystem” on November 11, 2025. The event was organized by ICAR–CRRI in collaboration with the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYS), New Delhi, and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi. The workshop aimed to foster dialogue among researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to translate scientific knowledge into practical technologies and strengthen the start-up ecosystem in agriculture. It brought together leading scientists, entrepreneurs, and over 100 students to explore innovation-led education and agri-entrepreneurship.
Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, Director General (R&D), KIIT School of Business, delivered the keynote address on “Education, Innovation, and Nation Building.” Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Director, ICAR–CRRI, highlighted the institute’s commitment to transforming research outputs into impactful technologies. Technical sessions focused on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), technology commercialization, and the Agri-Business Incubation (ABI) ecosystem, featuring experts from CSIR–IMMT, DBT–ILS, KIIT–TBI, and prominent agripreneurs.
The workshop also showcased the VIKAS R-ABI initiative, which supports young innovators through training, mentorship, and funding assistance of up to ₹4 lakhs to establish agri-startups. The programme concluded with a collective call to empower youth in transforming scientific ideas into sustainable agribusiness ventures, reinforcing the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and nation-building.
