Biofertilizers Take Center Stage in Bijepur Block under Khet Bachhao Abhiyan Campaign ![]()
Centered on the national mission of “Khet Bachhao Abhiyan,” a high-impact field demonstration program on CRRI Biofertilizers alongside a Kisan Ghosthi of progressive farmers was successfully conducted at Alipur village in Bijepur block today, June 18, 2026. Simultaneously, a specialized Training Program to Farmer Producer Companies on applications of CRRI Biofertilizers was organized at Saipali village, also within Bijepur block. Held under the state-funded project “Jaiva Poshak” (Production, Popularisation & Supply of Quality Bioinoculants), these sequential institutional initiatives were organized in collaboration with the Ahinsa Farmer Producer Company Limited, AFPCL, and aligned with ICAR and DAFE’s “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” framework. Program Coordinator Dr. Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist, led and guided the sessions, explaining the efficiency of CRRI Biofertilizers to substitute nitrogen fertilizers and highlighting NRRI Endo N and Azolla as highly suitable biofertilizers to restore soil biological health.
The two targeted institute programs successfully empowered the local farming community on preserving soil microbial diversity through balanced fertilizer practices. The technical sessions were highly enriched by key regional resource persons, including Smt. Sanghamitra Biswal, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK Bargarh, who elaborately explained the mandate of KVK Bargarh and organic practices for the balanced use of fertilizers. Additionally, Anima Das, Agriculture Officer of Bijepur block, and Sri Sourav Anand Seti, AAO, Bijepur, offered valuable guidance, with Sri Seti emphasizing local agricultural practices and the importance of adopting biofertilizers that can effectively replace chemical fertilizers. Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate, led the practical sessions by demonstrating the precise application methods of CRRI Biofertilizers for rice and vegetable systems. Moderated by Sri Siba Prasad Sahoo, Secretary of Ahinsa Club, and Lalajee Jhankar, and seamlessly facilitated by project staff, the twin events successfully armed Bijepur’s growers with scalable, eco-friendly strategies to lower chemical dependency. Around 47, 50 farmers have attended both these programs.
