Balance use of fertilizer to enhance soil health and increase the crop production organised by ICAR- Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack at Adangamajurai village, Biridi Block, Jagatsinghpur, Odisha ![]()
An awareness and discussion program on “Balanced Fertilizer Application and Agricultural Land Security” was organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Rice Research Institute (ICAR-CRRI) at Adhangmajurai village under Raghunathpur block of Jagatsinghpur district.
Senior Scientist Dr. Prakash Chandra Jena, Scientist Dr. Annamalai M., Senior Technical Officer Er. Bhupendra Ghritalahre, Senior Technician Shri Tapas Behera, Organic Farming Experts Shri Vishnupada Jena and Shri Krishnachandra Samantaray, Chandra Shekhar Rout participated in this program.
The program discussed about maintaining soil health through balanced fertilizer application in paddy and other crops. Special emphasis was given to increasing crop production by ensuring conservation of water resources and environmental protection. There was also a detailed discussion on proper use of fertilizers in paddy cultivation, organic farming and adoption of environment-friendly farming methods. In this awareness program, farmers were made aware about various agricultural technologies developed by the Central Rice Research Institute. Especially, information was given about increasing farmers’ income and sustainable agricultural development through the use of Leaf Color Chart (LCC) and natural farming methods.
Farmers were also made aware about organic farming, use of organic fertilizers, its preparation method, benefits and appropriate time of application in the field. Around 150 women and men farmers actively participated in the program and participated in the discussions. During the program, the farmers gave full cooperation to all the scientists and experts. The program was coordinated and managed by Smt. Manjurani Mallick.
