Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) Programme ![]()
A farmer awareness and training programme under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) initiative was successfully organized by ICAR – Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) during 19-20, May 2026 at Paliama village, Ganjam district, Odisha under the theme “Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices for Balanced Fertilization, IPM and Sustainable Soil Health.” The programme was sponsored under the project E-CHASI (EAP-359).
A total of 121 farmers, including 73 male farmers and 48 female farmers, actively participated in the programme from Paliama. The programme comprised technical sessions, field demonstrations and interactive farmer-scientist discussions focusing on sustainable rice cultivation, balanced use of fertilizers, integrated pest management and soil health improvement.
During the programme, Dr. Sangita Mohanty Sr. Scientist (Crop Production) delivered a lecture on Integrated Nutrient Management and balanced fertilizer application for improving soil health and crop productivity in rice based cropping system. Dr. Jeevan B, Scientist (Crop Protection) discussed eco-friendly management of insect pests and diseases in crops, while Dr. Raghu S Scientist (Crop Protection) highlighted the importance of non-chemical pest and disease management using seed treatments, solar 24X7 light traps, sticky traps, trichocards and pheromone traps. Dr. Lambodhar Behera, Principal Scientist (Crop Improvement) demonstrated the use of the Rice Xpert, Rice NXpert and CSA Xpert mobile applications for identification and management of nutrients, insect pests and diseases, and Dr. Meera Kar explained the significance of climate-resilient rice varieties for enhancing productivity and profitability under changing climatic conditions. She also highlighted the sigficance of cultivation of Biofortified rice varieties, HT rice, Low P and Low N utilizing varieties released by CRRI.
The programme was conducted and coordinated by Mr. Debabrata Dash, Sr. Technician, who supervised the registration of participating farmers and facilitated the smooth execution of the programme.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session where farmers shared their field experiences and clarified their queries related to nutrient management, pest and disease management, and climate-smart agricultural practices.
