The ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute (ICAR–CRRI), Cuttack, organized a one-day training programme on “Sustainable Rice Production: Monitoring GHG Emissions and Implementing DSR & AWD Techniques” on July 9, 2025. The programme was sponsored by Chaltaberia Ganaunnayan Sangstha (CGS), Chaltaberia, Duttapukur, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
Five farmers and field personnel from West Bengal participated, learning about climate-smart practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve resource-use efficiency. The programme included technical lectures on GHG emissions and sustainable techniques, hands-on field demonstrations of measurement methods, Direct Seeded Rice (DSR), and Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD).
An educational visit to the ORYZA Museum concluded the day. Participants appreciated the blend of theory and practical exposure, highlighting ICAR–CRRI’s commitment to eco-friendly rice farming and stakeholder capacity-building.
Dr. Pratap Bhattacharyya, Pr. Scientist, and Head, Crop Production Division was the Course Director of the programme. Dr. Sushmita Munda, Senior Scientist, Crop Production Division was the Co-course Director of the programme.
