ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack Observes Kisan Samman Diwas in Tribute to Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh ![]()
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, the ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute (ICAR-CRRI), Cuttack organized Kisan Samman Diwas on 23 December 2025 at the Institute under Swachhata Pakhwada–2025. It witnessed the active participation of about 105 farmers and farm women from Cuttack district of Odisha, reflecting the Institute’s strong commitment to farmer-centric research and outreach. Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Director, ICAR-CRRI, presided over the function and said in his opening remarks that CRRI is dedicated to farmers welfare in the region and the country. Shri Krushna Prasad Das, Edition Head & DGM, Sambad–Kanak News, Cuttack, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring lecture highlighting the contributions and ideas of Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, in strengthening agriculture and farmer empowerment.
The Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, addressed the participants via online platform. He emphasized on the special provision and benefits of newly formed Act VB-G RAM G to the farmers. Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of India also addressed the farmers and officials from ICAR, KVK and SAUs during the programme. An interactive farmer–scientist interaction session provided a platform for farmers to discuss field-level issues and technological solutions. As part of the event, light traps were distributed to the farmers and farm women to promote eco-friendly pest management practices. Dr. P.C. Jena, Sr. Scientist & Co-Chairman, Organizing Committee warmly welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and Dr. Awadhesh Kumar, Sr. Scientist & Organizing Secretary, presented the programme overview and introduced the Chief Guest. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Scientist & Co-organizing Secretary and moderated by Dr. Rupak Jena, Scientist. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Smt. Chandmuni Tudu, Senior Technical Officer.
