Field Day cum training programme for Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) & Progressive Farmers on adoption of CRRI Biofertilizer model” was organized Jharsuguda district on 02.09.2025
A Field Day-cum-Training Program on Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) and Progressive Farmers for the adoption of the CRRI Biofertilizer model was organized on 2 September 2025 at Kendudihi village, Laikera block, Jharsuguda district under the innovative project Jaivaposhak (ଜୈବ-ପୋଷକ) funded by the Directorate of Agriculture and Food Production (DAFE), Govt. of Odisha. The programme was jointly conducted by ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) and the NGO Social Education for Women’s Awareness (SEWA), Kumuridihi. Dr. Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist, CRRI, and Principal Investigator of the project, conceived the programme and Co-Principal Investigators of the project namely, Dr. A.K. Mukherjee, Dr. Annie Poonam, and Dr. Biswajit Mondal attended as resource persons. Dr. Mukherjee highlighted the applications of Trichoderma in pulses and vegetables, while Dr. Poonam explained the integrated farming approach to improve farmers’ income through diversified avenues. Dr. Mondal emphasized the economic and environmental benefits of biofertilizers. Demonstrations on the applications of CRRI biofertilizers such as Endo-N, Tech-Decomposer, Trichoderma, and Azolla were conducted by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate, Jaivaposhak project. The event was also attended by Smt. Pramila Marandi, AHO, Laikera, and Smt. Ketaki Nayak from the Horticulture Department. The programme was coordinated by Sri Sushil Kumar Dash, Secretary, SEWA, and supported by project staff from both CRRI and SEWA. An interactive session between scientists and farmers created awareness on the prospects and challenges of biofertilizer adoption. In total, around 50 farmers, including 27 women and 23 men, actively participated and benefited from the programme.
