Capacity Building Programme on Operation, Repair and Maintenance of Farm Machinery ![]()
A training programme on “Operation, Repair and Maintenance of Thresher, Small Rice Mill and Pulveriser” under the project “Enhancing Farm Profitability through Improved Mechanical Interventions and Creating Local Repair, Maintenance and Overhauling Centres (RMOs) in Selected Districts of Odisha (EAP-451)” was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Cuttack on 26 February 2026.
Altogether, 24 participants from Cuttack and Ganjam districts took part in the programme. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Director, ICAR-CRRI, and Dr. Pratap Bhattacharyya, Head, CPD. In his address, Dr. Kumar emphasized the importance of establishing RMO facilities at the village level and highlighted skill development as a pathway for self-employment opportunities for rural youth. The programme was also attended by Dr. P.C. Jena, Dr. S. Priyadarsani, Dr. M. Debanath, Dr. NN Jambhulkar, and other staff members of ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack.
As part of the practical exposure, participants visited authorized Kubota and Kamco machinery service centres at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to gain hands-on experience with spare parts and machine operations.
The valedictory session of the training programme was held in the Engineering Workshop of ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack, on 28 February 2026, in the presence of Director, Dr. G.A.K. Kumar. Participants were evaluated through a written examination followed by practical assessments, including the assembling of mini rice mills and pulverizers.
The programme successfully enhanced the technical skills of participants and strengthened their capacity to provide local repair and maintenance services, contributing to improved farm mechanization and rural livelihoods.
