Climate Resilience and Biofertilizers Take Center Stage in Rangeilunda Block under Khet Bachhao Abhiyan Campaign

Centered on the national mission of “Khet Bachhao Abhiyan,” a high-impact institutional training program on the applications of CRRI Biofertilizers was successfully conducted for Farmer Producer Companies at Chikarada village in Rangeilunda block today, June 30, 2026. Executed under the state-funded project “Production, Popularisation & Supply of Quality Bioinoculants in Rice-Based Cropping & Farming System of Odisha” (Jaiva Poshak), this progressive initiative was organized in close collaboration with the SmarTech Farmer Producer Company Limited. Aligned with ICAR and DAFE’s “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” framework, the dual-purpose campaign directly empowered 52 local participants, including 46 male and 6 female farmers, to transition away from synthetic chemical dependencies and restore vital soil microbial ecosystems.
The technical layout brought together a distinguished panel of agricultural scientists to deliver localized, sustainable farming strategies. The event opened with a welcome address by Sri Rabindra Behera, Managing Director of SmarTech FPCL, followed by a programmatic overview by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate. Dr. Jitendriya Mehar, Principal Scientist, educated the gathering on the balanced use of fertilizers alongside the adoption of climate-resilient CRRI rice varieties. Dr. Sujit Kumar Nath, Head of KVK Ganjam, reviewed current production practices across Ganjam district, stressing nutrient balancing. Dr. Parameswaran, Scientist, detailed the urgent requirement to replace chemical inputs with biofertilizers, while Dr. Annamalai, Scientist, shed light on the severe defects of excessive chemical usage and mapped out eco-friendly plant protection measures via biological insect-pest control.
Practical field implementation concluded the sessions, featuring a hands-on exercise led by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, who demonstrated the precise application methodologies of CRRI Biofertilizers for optimal field absorption. Following a vibrant farmer-scientist interaction where local growers clarified technical doubts, the program wrapped up with an official vote of thanks from SmarTech FPCL management. Facilitated efficiently by dedicated project staff, this joint institutional effort successfully equips Rangeilunda’s FPC network with the necessary bio-management tools to cut production costs, secure soil biological health, and foster a chemical-free agricultural future.
