FPC Training and Biofertilizer Demonstrations Spearhead ‘Khet Bachhao Abhiyan’ in Gaislet Block ![]()
Driving the national mission of “Khet Bachhao Abhiyan” forward, a specialized Training Program to Farmer Producer Companies on applications of CRRI Biofertilizers was successfully conducted at Dangbahal village today, June 20, 2026. This was sequentially followed by a high-impact field demonstration program on CRRI Biofertilizers and a Kisan Ghosthi of progressive farmers at Kathaumal village, with both programs organized within the Gaislet block of Bargarh district. Held under the state-funded project “Production, Popularisation & Supply of Quality Bioinoculants in Rice-Based Cropping & Farming System of Odisha” (Jaiva Poshak) in collaboration with the Ahinsa Farmer Producer Company Limited, AFPCL, these sequential institutional initiatives aligned with ICAR and DAFE’s “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” framework to protect regional soil microbial diversity through balanced fertilizer practices.
The community turnout was highly encouraging, especially among women farmers. The FPC training session at Dangbahal empowered 39 farmers, including 34 females and 5 males, while the field demonstration at Kathaumal village benefited an additional 85 progressive farmers, including 72 females and 13 males. Program Coordinator Dr. Upendra Kumar, Senior Scientist, led and guided the technical sessions, explaining the efficiency of CRRI Biofertilizers to substitute nitrogen fertilizers and highlighting NRRI Endo N and Azolla as highly suitable biofertilizers to restore soil biological health. Additionally, Dr. Upendra Kumar educated the participants on modern digital training modules, detailing the applications of NRRI Endo N, Tech Decomposer, and the overarching objectives of the Jaiva Poshak project.
The practical field application methods were spearheaded by Dr. Sai Krishna Repalli, Research Associate, who conducted step-by-step live demonstrations on applying the biofertilizers effectively within rice and vegetable cropping systems. The specialized training layout at Dangbahal village was closely coordinated by Fagunu Charan Bag, Director of AFPCL, ensuring strong institutional engagement. Moderated by Sri Siba Prasad Sahoo, Secretary of Ahinsa Club, and Lalajee Jhankar, and seamlessly facilitated by dedicated project staff, the twin events successfully armed the Gaislet farming community with scalable, eco-friendly tools to phase out chemical dependency.
