Awareness Campaign under MGMG and Khet Bachao Abhiyan Programme ![]()
A one-day awareness programme under Khet Bachao Abhiyan on the theme “Healthy Soil – Empowered Farmers – Prosperous India” was organized by the CRRI-Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station, Hazaribag on 5 June 2026 at Jorakath Village, Gondalpura, Barkagaon Block, Hazaribag.
The programme was attended by 57 farmers. The Chief Guest, Mr. Aman Kumar, Programme Director, Prakash Jan Seva Sansthan, Hazaribag, Jharkhand, extended his greetings to the participants on the occasion of World Environment Day and advised farmers to adopt scientific farming practices based on the recommendations of agricultural experts.
Dr. Shiv Mangal Prasad, Principal Scientist (Agronomy) highlighted the importance of soil testing in maintaining soil fertility and ensuring efficient nutrient management. He explained the correct procedure for soil sample collection and elaborated on various aspects of soil health. He also discussed the benefits and methods of using green manure and provided detailed information on the preparation of enriched compost, NADEP compost, and vermicompost. Further, he informed the farmers about climate-resilient, high-yielding rice varieties suitable for cultivation, including CR Dhan 320, CR Dhan 214, CR Dhan 804, and Sahbhagi Dhan. Dr. Arunkumara C.G., Scientist (Entomology) explained the advantages of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in reducing cultivation costs and increasing farm profitability.
During the interactive question-and-answer session, experts addressed farmers’ queries related to weed management, plant protection, nursery management, and seed availability. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Baleshwar Mahto, a progressive farmer.
