National Launch of BharatVistaar at Jaipur ![]()
In the Union Budget 2026–27, the Government of India announced the launch of BharatVistaar, a multilingual AI-based conversational advisory system for the agriculture sector. The platform integrates resources from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, government schemes, the India Meteorological Department, mandi prices, and state systems to provide farmers with a unified digital interface for advisories, credit, insurance, and market information. Envisioned as a Digital Public Infrastructure for AI in agriculture, BharatVistaar aims to promote technology-driven and risk-resilient farming.
The national launch was held on February 17, 2026, at Jaipur as a side event of the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said that BharatVistaar would serve as a single digital window for farmers to access real-time, localized, and multilingual advisories, along with financial and market-related services. He emphasized that the initiative would strengthen climate-resilient and technology-driven farming while ensuring inclusive growth in the agriculture sector.
The programme was held in the presence of Rajasthan Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, senior state officials, scientists, and other stakeholders. The Secretary, DARE & Director General of ICAR, Dr. M. L. Jat, highlighted the importance of “AI in Krishi” for transforming Indian agriculture and enhancing farmers’ productivity and resilience. During the event, the Union Minister formally inaugurated BharatVistaar and the national-level Agri Kosh and also released the AI Strategy Roadmap for agriculture, reflecting the government’s commitment to building a farmer-centric and sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
The live launching programme was also observed at ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, in the presence of the Director, Dr. G. A. K. Kumar, along with all staff members, who joined the event virtually and witnessed the historic launch.
