ICAR–CRRI Hosts Student Outreach Programme in Collaboration with INYAS and NAAS

The ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Cuttack organized a large-scale student outreach programme in collaboration with the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), New Delhi, and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Cuttack–Bhubaneswar Chapter. Altogether 273 students and 10 teachers from Delhi Public School (DPS), Kalinga participated in the event.
As part of the exposure visit, students explored several key research and educational facilities of the institute, including the Bio-fertilizer Unit, Pesticide Residue Laboratory, Oryza Museum, Farm Machinery Unit, and the Biocontrol Unit. The visit provided them with firsthand knowledge of advanced scientific research and technological innovations in rice science.
Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Director, ICAR–CRRI, along with Dr. Pratap Bhattacharyya, Head, Crop Production Division, and Senior Scientists Dr. Sushmita Munda and Dr. Sudipta Paul, interacted with the students and delivered motivational talks. The speakers encouraged the young learners to explore the world of science, nurture their curiosity, and develop innovative ideas, envisioning themselves as future scientists, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Dr. Totan Adak, Senior Scientist coordinated the programme.
The vibrant energy and enthusiasm displayed by the students highlighted their eagerness to learn and their potential to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s scientific landscape. The programme reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to inspiring and shaping the next generation of innovators and researchers.
