79th Independence Day Celebrated at ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated on 15 August 2025 with the theme unity, patriotism, social progress, and the contributions of India’s freedom fighters, and this year’s celebrations carried that spirit forward. Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Director, ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack, led the celebrations by garlanding the statue of the great freedom fighters and hoisting the National Flag.

In his address, Dr. Kumar paid homage to the courage, sacrifices, and unwavering spirit of the freedom fighters who secured India’s independence. He stressed the importance of unity, patriotism, and social progress as the guiding forces for the nation’s sustained growth. He also highlighted ICAR-CRRI’s vital role in nation-building through pioneering rice research and farmer welfare initiatives. Dr. Kumar encouraged scientists to develop innovative, climate-resilient technologies to ensure food security for the nation’s growing population.

The event, attended by scientists, technical, administrative, CRRI high school students and other staff members, served as a reaffirmation of the institute’s commitment to India’s development and to upholding the ideals and aspirations of the nation.
