Two-Day Training Programme on \u201cSOP for Paddy Straw Residue Management\u201d under OIIPCRA Project held at ICAR-CRRI, Kataka <\/strong><\/p>\r\nA two-day training programme on \u201cSOP for Paddy Straw Residue Management\u201d under the OIIPCRA Project, supported by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers\u2019 Empowerment, Government of Odisha, was organized by ICAR-CRRI, Kataka, during 04th -05th November 2026.\r\nThe programme was designed to provide hands-on training to farmers and members of Pani Panchayats on various in-situ and ex-situ paddy straw residue management practices. The training covered key aspects such as microbial decomposition, compost preparation, crop residue recycling, and value addition through the production of biodegradable pulp plates. Practical demonstrations, supplemented by detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), were conducted to enhance the participants\u2019 technical knowledge, develop their practical competencies, and promote the adoption of sustainable residue management technologies at the field level. The technical sessions were delivered by experienced scientists and subject-matter experts from ICAR\u2013CRRI. A total of 22 male participants representing three districts of Odisha participated in the programme.\r\nThe programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rahul Tripathi, Course Director, in the august presence of Dr. P. Panneerselvam, Dr. Sangita Mohanty and Dr. Upendra Kumar, Course Coordinators. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of adopting scientific, systematic and environmentally sustainable approaches to paddy straw residue management. Dr. Baijayanti Nayak warmly welcomed the participants, while Dr. P. Panneerselvam, Principal Investigator of the project, elaborated on the objectives of the training programme and emphasised the pivotal role of trained Master Trainers in ensuring its effective implementation at the district level.The programme concluded with the presidential address by Dr. P. Panneerselvam, who stressed the importance of adhering to the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for enhancing soil health, improving farmers\u2019 income and mitigating environmental pollution arising from crop residue burning. Dr. Baijayanti Nayak, Senior Technical Officer, ICAR\u2013CRRI, delivered the vote of thanks.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
